The SP-404A includes all of the features of Roland's popular SP-404SX sampler - 16-bit linear sampling, 29 effects, smooth FX switching, and 12 performance pads - and augments them with over 100 stereo samples, effects, and one-shots from Loopmasters. Create samples anywhere using the SP-404A's built-in mic, load them from an SD card, or import them from your computer. Use the Pattern Sequencer and Track Builder to craft your arrangements, or trigger the SP-404A from your AIRA TR-8 Rhythm Performer and experience a powerful combination of sampling and percussive synthesis. Powerful sampling capabilities

The Roland SP-404A provides powerful sampling capabilities that belie its small size. First of all, it comes with nine banks of premium samples created by Loopmasters. You can also load samples from the SP-404A's SD card slot, which supports SDHC card sizes up to 32GB. On top of that, WAV and AIFF audio files can be loaded from your Mac or PC, then assigned to the SP-404A's pads. And if you're out and about, you can use the built-in microphone to record just about anything, or pipe in audio from a mixer or external device via stereo line inputs. There's also a mic input for capturing audio with an external microphone.

Craft tracks, jams, and complete songs

The SP-404A goes way beyond loop recording and triggering. Thanks to its Pattern Sequencer and Track Builder, you can craft complete songs - in real-time! Its powerful Quantize mode includes shuffle feels for groove, swing, and movement. You can easily create patterns on-the-fly, then loop, layer, structure, and shape your tracks. You can store and recall up to 120 patterns, and thanks to interactive loop and pattern sequencer controls, the SP-404A really shines during a live performance.

The perfect match for your TR-8 Rhythm Performer

As powerful as the SP-404A's Pattern Sequencer is, to really unlock this sampler's potential you need to trigger it from your AIRA TR-8 Rhythm Performer. Doing so puts an incredibly powerful beat and sample production tool at your fingertips. Each of the TR-8's tracks can trigger a sample on the SP-404A, play a sound on the TR-8, or both simultaneously. You can trigger any sample from any of the SP-404A's banks, making it easy to access new sounds. You can also connect the SP-404A's stereo output to the TR-8's external audio input and use the TR-8 as a sub-mixer for your SP-404A. You can use the TR-8's Scatter feature to reverse, glitch, gate, truncate, and stutter your samples, or its per-step side-chain to create rhythmic ducking and gating effects.
